Project Independence will be conducting our Capital Campaign for
two years. Our goal is to retire our
debt of $570,000. So far we have raised
$ 47,000.00. We have a long way to go and
we remain hopeful.
Caring for the frail, elderly and individuals with
special needs is our passion. We have a
dedicated and highly trained nursing staff.
We offer a social and medical program daily. We also have the facilities and staff so our
services are individualized for the participants and the family needs. There is no other health care organization
more successful in caring daily for these individuals than Project Independence! We know this from feedback from the families,
physicians and other care agencies.
Our cost to deliver these high quality and needed
services are $23.14 per hour. We take in
an average of $11.46 per hour. We
receive $8,236 from the State of Vermont
each year and we save the State over one million dollars of Medicaid money by
keeping people out of nursing homes.
This allows our participants to remain active and viable members of
their community.
Yes, delivering high quality services, employing
dedicated nursing staff, taking our participants on outings, offering daily
entertainment, breakfast and lunch and a facility that participants call their
“Palace” leaves us raising money to be able to offer our services. We raise the “money gap” with selling raffle
items, and other fund raising events as well as grant writing all year through.
The state has cut our hourly rate and frozen our
ability to qualify any participant for choices for care funding. This is leaving us about $52,000 behind from
where we were last year. We also have
taken on more responsibility as other health agencies cut back their care and
it puts the onus on Project Independence. An example of
this is giving more showers. This may
seem simple, but it is an added cost to us because of the nursing time, water
and sewer cost.
Project Independence
kicked off our capital campaign at our “open house” and annual meeting on
October 20, 2010. It was a grand event
and the excitement from the families, participants and staff and friends still
abounds.
Please help us with any donation amount you
can. We apply all donations to the
facility that has made a “Palace” of a difference to our participants and
families. Not a nickel is wasted. If you wish to donate, you can use the DONATE button at the right or you can mail a check to Project Independence at 81 North Main Street, Barre, VT 05641, and indicate it is for the Capital Campaign. We thank you for any and all donations!
Now, I ask you -
How would you take care of your loved ones? Please come see how we do it and feel the
care and happiness that we treasure each day.
